Custom Applications Often Require Custom Solutions.
It’s always rewarding to see Monarch-McLaren components supporting equipment that continues to operate decades after it was built.
A recent customer project involved a custom leather flange packing for a vintage reciprocating air compressor system. The restored machine showcases the kind of heavy-duty industrial craftsmanship that defined early compressed air equipment — large flywheels, cast iron construction, and mechanically driven twin cylinders designed for long-term durability and serviceability.
Applications like these are a great reminder that leather sealing solutions continue to provide dependable performance in both modern and legacy equipment where flexibility, wear resistance, and long service life remain critical. Compressors of this era were commonly used in farm operations, services stations, machine shops, industrial maintenance facilities and railroad and utility work.
We appreciate our customer sharing photos of this impressive restoration and allowing Monarch-McLaren to play a small role in keeping historic equipment operating.
